Idea

The staff were wonderful. I inquired about a new release which resulted in a lovely chat about books & other things. I used to come in to borrow books, cds & DVDs alot, but have been enjoying their online offering more in the last few years. The computers were also great when I used them in the past. The Ideas Store is a great place to come when you just want to be surrounded by books. I love that there are a few chairs to sit in too. There's always great displays which make me wish I had more time to read all of them. I think this branch is trying to do more events too, which is fabulous. Libraries are such an important part of our community. The Canary Wharf one has always been very friendly & welcoming.

Thank you to Joe (I am hoping my befuddled brain remembered your name rightly) for his gentleness and kindness today. My mum passed away last Friday and I needed copies of her hand prints made and printed to send back to South Africa in time for her celebration of life next Saturday only did he assist me after seeing I was struggling but made sure I knew where the post office was and he got me envelopes and he didn't charge me for the copies (sounded like he paid for them) , Joe you were what in my belief system we call an earth Angel. Your understanding and kindness were appreciated more than any words could express. Thank you for your gentleness and acknowledgement. Your actions, will be the reason I return to the store and for me to play your compassion forward.

Most of the librarians here are friendly and helpful and run a really wonderful story time session in the mornings. Unfortunately, we’ve had a few who have been very grumpy and rude: Even to the little toddlers and babies! Great selection of books for adults and children though and lots of effort goes into displays etc. Well worth a visit if you’re a parent of young children.

Original review left in August: They tape over the sockets in learning labs (rooms for studying), which means you cannot charge your laptop there. Outside the learning labs the sockets aren't taped over, however, people (staff included) talk loudly. You have no rights to ask people to be quiet outside learning labs because that space is not designated as a quiet area. My suggestion is: stop taping over sockets in the learning labs, people need to charge their laptop (and study using their laptop) and enjoy silence in the same space.
